According to court documents obtained through station WBNS, a Columbus man has been accused of raping a 10-year-old Ohio girl who was forced to fly to Indiana for an abortion after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade.

The case’s rumors attracted national and worldwide attention, and some US political officials brought it up in discussions regarding abortion restrictions.
The 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes was detained on Tuesday, according to court records and the Columbus police.

According to the Franklin County Municipal Court, he is accused of felony rape of a child under the age of 13. On Wednesday, he made his first court appearance.
According to the court, Fuentes is being kept in custody on a $2 million bond.
Fuentes admitted to the police. Det. Jeffrey Huhn testified during Fuentes’ arraignment on Wednesday that he sexually assaulted the little girl on Tuesday at least twice.
Fuentes “spoke with us and admitted to having vaginal intercourse with the victim on no less than two occasions” and then was arrested, Huhn said.
