Former National Security Advisor Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah (RTD) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to treat all parties fairly in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

In a recent interview, he emphasized the importance of impartiality for the acceptance of election results by all parties. “I just hope Jean Mensa and her team will conduct a fair process,” he remarked.

Discussing Ghana’s current state of governance and development, Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah expressed his disappointment.

He had anticipated that the country would be more developed by now. He criticized both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the major parties that have governed Ghana in the Fourth Republic, for their performance.

“I am disappointed; I expected Ghana to be in a better place than it is today,” he stated. He also mentioned that when Ghanaians vote for their leaders, it should be for the country’s benefit, not for the leaders’ personal gains.

When asked about his view on contemporary politics, Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah bluntly described it as being driven by financial gain.

His comments reflect a broader concern about the integrity and motivations of political leadership in Ghana.
