Anthony Marcus Sanders was born on March 2, 1974, in Tucson, Arizona, United States. He had won a gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics since he was a  member of the United States national baseball team.

Anthony Sanders had joined the Colorado Rockies organization as the Tri-City ValleyCats hitting coach in 2007, a role in which he had served through to 2012. He was promoted to manager of the Grand Junction Rockies of the Rookie-level Pioneer League in 2013.
