Yvette Nicole Brown is an American actress, voice actress, singer, and comedian known for her roles in various television shows and films. She is best known for her roles in the NBC sitcom “Community,” where she played the role of Shirley Bennett, and in the 2015 reboot of the CBS sitcom “The Odd Couple,” where she starred as Dani.


Brown has also appeared in films such as “Dreamgirls,” “Tropic Thunder,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Disenchanted.” She has hosted several shows, including “Cosplay Melee” on SyFy and “Talking Dead.”

She has also been a guest co-host on talk shows like “The View,” “The Talk,” and “The Real.”

Brown was born on August 12, 1971, in East Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in 1989 and studied communication studies at the University of Akron, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in communication in 1994.

Brown is engaged to Anthony Davis, whom she met in an acting class at church when they were in their 20s. They reconnected in recent years and got engaged in December 2023.

Brown has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and has won several other awards for her work. She is involved with several organizations, including Donors Choose, EMILY’s List, MPTF Next Gen, and SAG-AFTRA.


Brown is 5′ 1″ (1.55 m) tall and does not have any children. Her aunt is Charles Brown.

She does not seem to have an active account on Instagram. Brown was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which motivated her to make significant lifestyle changes to manage her condition.

She knew that losing weight would help her control her blood sugar levels and improve her overall health.
