Bernard Belle was an American composer, producer and musician best known for being a songwriter for Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.

Bernard Belle was born on November 12, 1964, in Englewood, New Jersey, United States. He was raised alongside a sibling named Regina Belle. He was brought up in Englewood, New Jersey. He was schooled at at Dwight Morrow High School and had performed as a musician while still there.

Bernard Belle started gaining attention in the late 1980s. His sister, Regina Belle is a Grammy Award-winning singer. She invited him to play guitar for the R&B group, The Manhattans which she was providing background vocals for at the time.

Bernard Belle became known as a songwriter for Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston and a producer of gospel music. He has partnered with producer Teddy Riley and is credited with writing and co-writing “Remember the Time”, “Privacy” and “Why You Wanna Trip on Me”.


Bernard Belle frequently appeared as a musician on the BET gospel shows Sunday Best and The Celebration of Gospel. He has been credited on more than 70 million records worldwide as a producer, writer, or musician. He is a recipient of several significant honors including four Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, two Soul Train Music Awards, over a dozen ASCAP Awards as well as nominations for Stella and GMA Dove Awards.

Bernard Belle tied the knot with his long time love Debra Belle in November 1995. He passed away on June 23, 2022, at the age of 57.
