Beyoncé’s Mother, Tina Knowles, Moves Closer to Finalizing Divorce from Richard Lawson

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, is taking steps to finalize her divorce from Richard Lawson after a lengthy period of inactivity in the case.

Recently, Tina, who is 70 years old, submitted a comprehensive list of her financial details and asset information to the court, a necessary step for concluding the divorce.

However, Richard, who is 77, has yet to provide confirmation that he has also submitted his financial documents.

Tina filed for divorce in July 2023 after eight years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause for their separation.

She has requested that the court no longer consider awarding spousal support to either party and that her maiden name, Knowles, be restored legally.

The couple married in 2015 on a yacht in Newport Beach, California. Their wedding was attended by prominent guests including Beyoncé, her sister Solange Knowles, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Samuel L. Jackson, and Richard’s children, Bianca and Richard Lawson.

Neither Tina nor Richard have publicly discussed the reasons behind their divorce. Tina was previously married to Mathew Knowles, the father of Beyoncé and Solange, with whom she was married for thirty years before their divorce in 2009.
