Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Bovi Ugboma has shared a glimpse into his parenting journey, revealing how his son, Chuchu, used to destroy televisions in fits of anger but has since learned to manage his emotions.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by Nedu, Husband Material, and others, Bovi reflected on his experiences as a father and his stance on gentle parenting.
Breaking TVs Out of Anger
During the interview, Bovi recounted how his son would throw objects and shatter televisions when upset. Despite the challenges, he chose to remain patient, allowing Chuchu the time and space to outgrow the destructive behavior.
“My son Chuchu dey break television for the fun of it. If he vex, he will throw stuff and break television,” Bovi revealed. “He has broken three televisions. Thank God for capacity. If I couldn’t afford another TV, then the approach would have been different.”

Gentle Parenting Approach
Bovi, a proponent of gentle parenting, emphasized his belief in allowing children to learn and grow without resorting to physical discipline.
“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be,” he said.
He also noted that Chuchu eventually began to show remorse for his actions, which marked a turning point in his emotional development.
Bovi’s story sheds light on the challenges of parenting and the importance of patience and understanding. By supporting his son through his outbursts and giving him room to grow, the comedian highlighted how children can learn to manage their emotions without punitive measures.
