Brian Bedford, a Queens Park Rangers legend, passed away on May 18 2022 at the age of 88, according to the club. “The club is deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Brian Bedford at the age of 88,” a QPR statement said.

“Everyone at QPR is thinking of him and his family at this difficult time,” the statement continued. “May he rest in peace” His cause of death was not announced. There is no information about his personal life.

Bedford began his professional career with Reading when Ted Bates noticed him and signed him to Southampton in July 1955. Before joining AFC Bournemouth in August 1956, he only made a few appearances for Southampton.

He was bought by Queens Park Rangers manager Alec Stock in 1959 for £750 after scoring 32 goals in 75 games for Bournemouth. He made his debut against Swindon Town in a 2–0 win. He went on to play for Rangers in 258 league games, scoring 161 goals (180 in all competitions).

In a six-year career with the west Londoners, the striker scored 180 goals, the second-highest in club history.
