A helicopter crashed into a field in North Yorkshire, killing two persons, according to police.
The incident occurred soon before lunchtime on Monday, June 20 off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale on the Cumbria border, according to North Yorkshire Police.
Locals were told there was a pilot and at least one passenger on board the helicopter before it crashed, according to Ben Slinger, 35, the manager of a nearby fabrications business.
Ben said he spoke to several residents who thought police and fire crews were looking for someone who may have “bailed out” before the chopper went down. “The chopper was on flames,” he claimed. The two passengers who died are believed to be the only ones on the plane.
The A65 and the junction with Bentham Moor Road are both closed completely. An investigation has been initiated, and a team of inspectors is on their way to the accident scene to begin their probe.”
