Casey Skudin, a firefighter at Ladder 137 on Beach 116th Street and resident of Long Beach died following a tragic car accident on Friday, June 17, 2022.
Firefighter Casey Skudin was on vacation with his family yesterday, Friday, the 17th of June 2022 when he was involved in the fatal accident.
Firefighter Skudin was reportedly driving with his family when a tree fell and hit their car which led to the accident.
The tree collapsed across a roadway on Biltmore Estate, striking a vehicle, and killing one person.
According to reports, at the time of the tragic incident, three people and one child were in the automobile, and they were sent to Mission Hospital.
A spokesman noted that Buncombe County EMS and Asheville Fire Department were the first on the scene, with help from Biltmore onsite crews.
One of the adults inside the vehicle died as a result of significant injuries.
Throughout the course of his firefighting career, Casey Skudin received many FDNY Medals for his work in water rescues and for assisting Rockaway residents during Hurricane Sandy.
Casey Skudin will be remembered as one of New York City’s most distinguished firefighters.
