Why Chip Hailstone went to Jail
In 2011, Chip Hailstone was accused of perjury because he provided false information about a suit which he filed in favor of his daughter and son. Chip hailstone claimed that he saw a state trooper physically assaulting his then-17-year-old daughter, Tinmiaq. He also filed a suit that a neighbor had pointed a gun towards his son. However, all these complaints came out to be false, which led to the imprisonment of Chip Hailstone. He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment and three years probationary sentence in December 2012.
Hailstone then appealed against his judgment stating that he didn’t intentionally provide false information. His appeal was not regarded by the court but was dismissed in July 2017.
