Manchester United and Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been named the highest-paid footballer globally ahead of Paris Saint Germain forward, Lionel Messi.
The latest ranking comes after Forbes updated their list of highest-paid footballers. The Manchester United forward earns $125 million. This is breaking down into $70 million of salary and $55 million of endorsement deals.
Lionel Messi is ranked second with an amount of $110 million which includes a $75 million salary and $35 million endorsements. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi moved from their various clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester United from Serie A side, Juventus whereas Lionel Messi joined PSG as a free agent.
Neymar Jr has been named the third-highest paid footballer with $95 million including $75 million of salary and $20 million endorsements.
Third, on the list from PSG, and fourth on the top 10 is Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe earns $43 million including $28 million of Salary and $20 million in endorsements. PSG attempts to increase Kylian Mbappe’s salary to persuade him to extend his contract has failed as he hopes to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
