Cristiano Ronaldo Makes Records After A Brace Against Hungary

It was the man of records at the centre of the Portuguese Euro 2020 opening match against Hungary.

Portugal found the back of the net at the 84th minute thanks to Raphael Guerreiro. Cristiano Ronaldo added the double from a penalty and an open play to complete the records.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now won 12 games at the European Championships, more than any other player in the history of the tournament. He is just followed by Spanish duo Andre Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas, 11 each. Both have retired.

The scorer has now scored in 11 consecutive senior international tournaments; Euros 5, World Cup 4, Confederations Cup and Nations League with two major international trophies. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and now Juventus forward has become the first man to appear in five European Championships tournaments and now he’s scored in every single one. Thus 2004,2008,2012,2016,2020.

Adding to his records tonight is the biggest. He becomes the leading goal scorer in the Euro championship with 11 goals followed by Michel Platini, 9.  Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan as the only two players who have scored in nine consecutive major international tournaments: World Cup,  Euros, Copa América and  AFCON.
