Felipe Vazquez Parents: Meet Omaira Blanco de Rivero and Felipe Santiago Rivero

Pitcher Felipe Vazquez hails from Venezuela and plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball (MLB). On July 5, 1991, he was born in San Felipe, Yaracuy, Venezuela. Felipe once belonged to the Washington Nationals. Additionally, he received the “All-Star” designation in both 2018 and 2019.

Felipe signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays on July 20, 2008. In 2012, following his participation in the “All-Star Futures Game,” he was added to the Rays’ roster.

Felipe was exchanged by the Washington Nationals in 2014. Felipe was only able to play in 14 games because of elbow pain. The Nationals then reassigned him to the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.

Omaira Blanco de Rivero and Felipe Santiago Rivero are Felipe Vazquez’s parents. Vázquez and the Pirates agreed to a four-year contract before the 2018 campaign, with two additional years of club option. Vázquez made his debut at an All-Star game in 2018 after being chosen to participate. He finished the year with a 2.70 ERA, 37 saves, and a 4-2 record.
