Governor Siminalayi Fubara has taken decisive action in response to the recent political unrest in Rivers State, convening a high-level security council meeting with top officials.


The closed-door session, held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, focused on tackling the infiltration of local government offices.

Addressing reporters afterwards, Governor Fubara emphasized the need to thwart attempts to disrupt governance at the grassroots level.

He cautioned former council chairpersons against unrealistic expectations of reinstatement and sounded the alarm on purported plots to arrest his supporters.

In a bold stance, the Governor pledged personal protection for those targeted, asserting his readiness to confront any aggressors directly. His commitment underscores the intensity of the current political climate in Rivers State.

Beginning as a principal accountant in 2003, he steadily ascended through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as Rivers State’s Accountant General in December 2020.
