Late Gina Moscone was the wife of late George Moscone in 1954.

The duo had been best of friends in grade school. Their marriage produced four children.

Who Was George Moscone?

George Moscone was an American attorney and Political Democrat.

Moscone, whose nickname was “The People’s Mayor” became the 37th mayor of San Francisco in January 1976 until his assassination in November 1978.

At the beginning of his political career, Moscone was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, where he advocated for the poor, racial minors and small business owners.

Moscone had graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and served in the Navy, before he began private practice in 1956.

Before he became Mayor, Moscone served as a majority leader in the California State Senate from 1967 to 1976.

He is remembered for commissioning City Hall and appointing African Americans, Asian Americans, and gay people, in order to portray the diversity of San Francisco. He is also remembered for advocating for the peoples’ progress.

Moscone died by assassination on November 27, 1978, in California, at the age of 49.
