Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KCB QC was born on September 2, 1962, in Southwark, London, United Kingdom. He is of British nationality and is the son of Rod Starmer and Josephine Baker. He is the second of his parents’ four children. While his mother was a nurse, his father worked as a toolmaker.

Keir Starmer was raised in Oxted, Surrey. He went to the selective state Reigate Grammar School and was a junior exhibitioner at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama until he was.
