Nigerian singer, Omah Lay, has bagged his first award for the night as he has been named the Next Rated Act at the ongoing 14th edition of Headies Awards.
The category was one of the keenly contested as he battled it out with some notable musicians like Bella Shmurda, Tema and Oxlade to emerge the winner of the category.
Omah Lay was one of the artistes that people tipped to be looked out for at the beginning of the year. With his melodious voice and well-defined sound over a combination of Afrobeats, Afrofusion and soul, the fast-rising star has positioned himself as one to expect a lot from.
Last year, Omah Lay was in the news after he was detained in Uganda for allegedly breaking COVID-19 regulations in the country. When the news broke, there was a huge social media campaign for his immediate release. This is proof that he has a growing popularity.
