Stefanos Tsitsipas was born on August 12, 1998, in Athens, Greece. His parents Apostolos Tsitsipas and Julia Apostoli Salnikova are both tennis players. While his father is Greek, his mother is Russian.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was raised alongside three younger siblings: two brothers Petros Tsitsipas and Pavlos (Paul) Tsitsipas, and the last born, a sister Elisavet Tsitsipas. All his siblings are also tennis players. Stefanos was introduced to the tennis sport at age of three. He is a former world No. 1 junior.

Stefanos Tsitsipas made history as the third Greek player, as well as the first Greek male in the Open Era, to win a junior Grand Slam title with a victory in the 2016 Wimbledon boys’ doubles event. He became the youngest winner of the year-end championships in 18 years following his win at the 2019 ATP Finals.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has won eight ATP singles titles (including two Masters 1000 championships). He was named the 2019 Greek Male Athlete of the Year and later won his first Masters 1000 event at the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters. He became the highest-ranked Greek player in history after he had been ranked as high as world No. 3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals.
