Jody Lukoki a former Ajax winger died tragically at the age of 29, according to sources. Jody Lukoki was in the final stages of recovering from a cruciate ligament injury when his death was confirmed.
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Ajax posted on Twitter: “Jody Lukoki, a former player for us, died at the age of 29. Jody, rest in peace.”
After being convicted of assaulting his girlfriend, Lukoki’s contract at Twente was terminated earlier this year. For the charges, he received 80 hours of community service and a three-year probationary period that was suspended.
Lukoki came through the Ajax youth system and made his senior debut in January 2011. He played three seasons for the Dutch giants, winning the Eredivisie in each of them.
However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular in Amsterdam, and after a loan move to Cambuur, he joined PEC Zwolle permanently in 2014. A year later, he joined Bulgarian club Ludogorets Razgrad, where he won three more league titles before joining Yeni Malatyaspor.
