Fat Friends and Band of Gold actress, Kay Mellore was 71 years old when she died on May 25, 2022. She lived between 1951 and 2022.
Mellor’s cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
“We have lost a phenomenal talent and a true luminary,” Rollem Productions added in a statement.
The Leeds born actress also doubles as a screenwriter and is credited for several screenplays including Band of Gold, Coronation Street, Brookside, and award-winning children’s drama, “Children’s Ward”.
Her famous film, Fat Friends, starred James Corden, Ruth Jones, Alison Steadman and Mellor’s youngest daughter, Gaynor Faye.
For Sir Lenny Henry collaborated with Mellor on The Syndicate, the late actress was a bundle of talents, with a sense of humour with a burning passion to bring out the best in people.
Screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce said,:
“She was so breezily intelligent, so casually kind, so ready to get on with stuff.”
Mellor was married to her husband Anthony in 1968 and together they have two children in the entertainment industry- actress Faye and TV producer Yvonne Francas.
