Ketanji Brown Jackson is an American attorney and jurist serving as a circuit judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

It has jurisdiction over cases involving Congress and the executive branch agencies.

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Miami, Florida, Ketanji attended Harvard University for college and law school, where she served as an editor on the Harvard Law Review.

Now, Jackson, 51, is believed to be at the top of Biden’s list of potential candidates to replace Breyer, who intends to retire at the end of the current Supreme Court term.

Jackson clerked for Breyer during the 1999 term after serving as a clerk in 1997-1998 to Judge Bruce M. Selya, a federal judge in Massachusetts.
