Matt Lauer was born on December 30, 1957, in New York City. He is the son of Jay Robert Lauer and Marilyn Lauer. In 1997, he received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University. He was 39 years old at the time. In there, he studied in the school of Media Arts and Scripps College of Communication.
Lauer was married to Nancy Alspaugh from 1982 to 1989. He later married Annette Roque. The couple has three children, Jack, Thijs, and Romy.
