Medikal: Ghanaian Rapper Remanded In Prison Over Gun Brandishing

Ghanaian rapper and hip-hop singer, Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal has been remanded in prison for brandishing a gun. The AMG member was remanded by the Accra Circuit Court on October 22, 2021, and will return to the court after five days.

The court presided over by Mr Essandoh Emmanuel denied Medikal bail on charges of display of arms and ammunition although Medikal pleaded not guilty.

After the court proceeding, it was all sadness for Medikal’s family as they hoped to obtain bail for their beloved. Fella Makafui, the wife of AMG Medikal, was present at the court and kept her cool.

According to Section 7 of the Arms and Ammunitions Act, it is not allowed to display ammunitions in any public place. “No person shall, except in accordance with the terms of a permit granted under this Decree or with the written consent of the Inspector-General of Police, publicly display any arms or ammunition (including explosives) or discharge any firearm or other weapon in any public place.

Medikal, the 2021 VGMA Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste of the Year, will reappear before the Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
