“This project was different from anything I have done before,” Afolarin shared. “It was intriguing to get involved on a deeper level and discover more about myself as a performer. This has been the most creatively fulfilling journey I have ever undertaken.”
A significant challenge for Afolarin was adapting to the film’s language shift.
During production, the cast was unexpectedly asked to perform in Yoruba, a transition that presented its own set of difficulties. “When we did the read, I wasn’t sure if we were supposed to prepare in English or Yoruba,” he said. “Switching to Yoruba midway was shocking, and though it was challenging, it made me want to delve deeper into my character.”
