He lamented that the country is facing serious challenges, which he finds deeply disappointing.

Reflecting on his previous support for President Akufo-Addo, he stated that the leader he believed in back in 1998 seems very different from the one governing today.

Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah, who also served as Chief of Defence Staff, voiced his frustration with Ghana’s lack of progress.

He had hoped for a much more developed nation by now. He believes that both major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have not lived up to their responsibilities during the Fourth Republic.

Expressing his personal disappointment, Nunoo-Mensah said he expected Ghana to be in a far better condition.

He criticized the politicians, stating that when people vote for members of parliament and the president, they are electing them to manage the country for the benefit of all citizens, not for personal gain.

In his view, modern politics seems to be more about making money than serving the public.

These statements from Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah highlight the widespread concern about Ghana’s current political and economic situation, reflecting a sense of unmet expectations among many citizens.
