Biography And Early Life

Stanley Omah Didia better known by his stage name Omah Lay was born on 19th May 1997 in Ikwere, Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria. He was born into a family with deep musical roots. His grandfather was until his death, a percussionist for the legendary ‘1970s’ Igbo Highlife singer Celestine Ukwu and his father was also a local drummer.

Reports state that the multi-talented singer studied at Comprehensive High School which is located in the capital city of River state before he proceeded to the University Of Port Harcourt for his tertiary education.

Music Career

Omah Lay’s path to music was not a straight one but he started music when he was just a teenage rapper at Marine Base. Back then, he went by the stage name Lil King.

He later shifted his focus into music production after he got bored with rapping. However, as a music producer, he wrote and produced songs for some artists for them to give him credit for his work but it did not work out.

Omah Lay then resorted to recording his own songs in the year 2019 where two of his very first songs ‘Do Not Disturb’ and ‘Hello Brother’ received massive airplay in Port Harcourt radio stations. This move put him on the radar and drew the KeyQaad Record label towards him which later signed him in July 2019.


After signing a record deal with KeyQaard, he moved to Lagos where he is based to date.


Omah Lay dropped his debut single ‘You’ on the 14th of February 2020 which became a big hit as it went on to garner over 600,000 streams on all platforms. Moving forward, he solidified his spot after releasing his debut Extended Play (EP) ‘Get Layd’ in May 2020 which has become the most-streamed on the digital music platform, Audiomack after it had also garnered over 120 million streams across all other platforms.

His hit jam ‘Bad Influence’ which is off the EP, had become the most-streamed song on the platform in August after registering over 16.9 million streams defeating Davido’s ‘Risky’ featuring Popcaan which had 16.7 million streams.
