Oscar Heman-Ackah Unveils Captivating Teaser for ‘Finding Messiah’

Oscar Heman-Ackah, the talented Ghanaian-Nigerian media executive, has made an impressive debut as a feature film director with his political musical drama titled “Finding Messiah.”

The film’s captivating five-minute teaser has already garnered significant attention from Nollywood fans, who are praising its quality, captivating music, and scale.

“Finding Messiah” is set in the fictional nation of Zambay, a richly imagined ancient civilization complete with its own culture, language, and sensibilities.

The teaser, released on March 28, 2024, introduces viewers to a world mixed up in messy political unrest. In this chaotic setting, a group of protesters stands up against an oppressive political class that fails to protect the very people it should serve.

The parallels to real-world events, such as the EndSARS movement, are striking. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including renowned actors such as Pete Edochie, Ngozi Ezeonu, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Alex Usifo (portraying Zambay’s tyrannical figure), Ejike Asiegbu, Bucci Franklin from “Knockout Blessing”, Sunshine Rosman, Daddy Showkey, and Uzi Kwednu.

Keppy Ekpeyong, Segun Arinze, Majid Michael, and Lilian Afegbai also feature in the film. 43-year-old Oscar Heman-Ackah’s dedication to authenticity shines through in the film’s production. He painstakingly built the fictitious world of Zambay from scratch, creating houses, executive villas, offices, and streets to ensure believability.

As the film’s writer, director, executive producer, and production designer, Heman-Ackah poured his heart into this project. The original music score, composed by him, adds another layer of brilliance to the film.

In an Instagram post, Heman-Ackah shared the challenges he faced in creating the film’s set. He expressed gratitude to his wife, Kemi Adetiba, a critically acclaimed director herself (known for “King of Boys”) as she had been a constant support throughout the process.

Adetiba reciprocated the sentiment on her Instagram, showing her admiration for her husband’s genius.“Finding Messiah” completed its main filming in January. While the film’s release date remains undisclosed, anticipation is high.
