Patricia Noah is the mother of celebrated South African comedian, Trevor Noah, who is the host of The Daily Show, an American satirical news program on Comedy Central.

Trevor Noah’s mother Patricia had made a number of tough decisions before she ended up in the city of Johannesburg.
Living in Soweto, young women did not have a list of good options when it came to choosing what to do, as apartheid left them two choices; becoming a maid or working at a factory. Patricia Noah found a third option in a sad situation. She took a secretarial course and typing classes.
After that, she got a job as a secretary at ICI. She worked there for a while but left for Johannesburg soon after because she was unhappy at home.
In 1992, Noah’s mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo married Ngisaveni Abel Shingange; they had two sons together, Andrew and Isaac.
Shingange physically abused her leading her away from him.

Patricia survived many years of suffering the agonies of life, having endured the worst blows from childhood, Apartheid, and abusive relationships.
