Patrick Dewaere was a French film actor best known for his exceptional performance as Pierrot in Bertrand Blier‘s 1974 anarchic comedy Going Places.

Patrick Dewaere was born Jean-Marie Patrick Bourdeaux on January 26, 1947, at Saint-Brieuc in Britanny in France’s northwest region. He was born into an acting family and was the third of six children born to actress Mado Maurin.

Patrick Dewaere was raised in Paris alongside four brothers and a sister including Jean-Pierre Maurin (1941-1996), Yves-Marie Maurin (1944-2009), Dominique Maurin (1949- ), Jean-François Vlerick (also known as Jean-Francois Maurin) (born 1957 ) and Marie-Véronique Maurin (born 1960).

Patrick Dewaere’s siblings also played in movies and television series and have all become thespians. Regarding his education, Patrick attended a private school called the Cours Hattemer.

Patrick Dewaere Cause Of Death

Patrick Dewaere was popular but troubled with depression. Patrick Dewaere committed suicide by shooting himself in his house in Paris on July 16, 1982. He was 35 years old at the time.

The incident occurred shortly after his partner Elsa Chalier left him that year for his best friend Coluche. Patrick Dewaere was buried in the cemetery of Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, in the grave of his in-laws.
