DJ Maphorisa, a well-known South African music producer, has been arrested on suspicion of beating his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.

The assault reportedly happened inside Phongolo’s apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg, according to sources.
Phongolo, a club DJ and actress, reported the incident to police and gave a statement at the Sandton police station.
She said that the assault began when she approached Maphorisa about their fight the night before.
According to Phangolo’s statement;
“He became aggressive and started to punch me with his fists on my chest. He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck.”
The actress also claimed that her boyfriend stole her phone during the assault and but later returned it.

She then called her manager, who drove her to the police station to file a domestic violence report against Maphorisa.
Maphorisa is scheduled to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on the assault accusation.
The event has prompted uproar on social media, with many people demanding justice.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) issued a statement urging victims of domestic violence to come forward and report cases to the police.
The statement is as follows:
“We condemn all forms of violence against women and children, and we encourage victims to come forward and report these cases to the police. We will do everything in our power to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.”
