Raila Amalo Odinga is a Kenyan politician who served as the country’s prime minister from 2008-2013.

Raila Odinga was born on 7th January, 1945 at the Anglican Church Missionary Society Hospital, Maseno, Kisumu District, Nyanza Province. His parents are Mary Ajuma Odinga and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga (the Vice President of Kenya under President Jomo Kenyatta).

Raila Odinga Education
Raila Odinga attended the Kisumu Union Primary and Maranda School but he dropped out from the latter in 1962.
After dropping out, Raila Odinga got enrolled at the Herder Institution. In 1965, Odinga was awarded a scholarship at the Technical School, Magdeburg (now known as the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg). Raila Odinga graduated in 1970 with a diploma in Production Engineering.

Raila Odinga also owns a 10 bedroom home in Nyanza was built on Riat Hills in Kisumu which boasts of jacuzzis, a humongous helipad, conference halls, a theatre and state-of-the-art kitchen.

In 2020, according to Raila Odinga’s wife, he was treated of a mild nerve disorder which was affecting one leg in Dubai.
Raila Odinga Achievements
From 1992 to 2013, Raila Odinga served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata. From 2001-2002, Odinga served in the Cabinet of Kenya as the Minister of Energy. He also served as the Minister for Roads, Public Works and Housing from 2003-2005.
In 2018, Raila Odinga was appointed as the High Representative for Infrastructure Development at the African Union Commission, a position he holds till date.
