Rúben Semedo is a Portuguese professional footballer and Olympiacos central defender and defensive midfielder. He was born on April 4, 1994, at Amadora, Portugal. He is 26 years of age and a height of 1.89m. His birth names are Rúben Afonso Borges Semedo. At age 16, he joined Sporting CP youth system.

Rúben Semedo spent the 2013–14 season with the Sporting CP B team in the Segunda Liga. He made his first appearance in a 1-0 home victory against Trofense but was loaned to Reus in 2014. The promising star returned to Sporting for 2015/16 season and gained promotion to the first team. Rúben Semedo made his first competitive appearance against Benfica in a 1-0 home victory winning the league but five days later, he was loaned to Vitória de Setúbal.
In 2016, Rúben Semedo was called back to Sporting CP amidst injury crises at the defence where he made his first European appearance in the Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen but was shown the marching orders after two bookable offences. He renewed his contract until 2022 with a release clause of €44 million.
In 2017, he was transferred to Villarreal for a fee of €14 million but he was loaned to Huesca a newly promoted side for the 2018 season. In 2019, he joined Olympiacos in Greece for €4.5 million.

In 2018, it was reported that Rúben Semedo would stand a trial for an altercation in a bar in Valencia. It was alleged he brandished a pistol and made the threat while nursing an injury. He was later arrested for assaulting two others and was charged with attempted murder and placed in preventive detention. He was released after paying bail of €30,000 while facing a maximum of 15 years in jail.
