The Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), along with the Federation of Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trade Union Congress (TEWU-TUC), have issued a stern warning of an impending indefinite strike.

This decision comes as a response to perceived disparities in the payment of the Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (VMA) and other related allowances.
Expressing their discontent, the unions have highlighted that they were not included in the recent upward review of the VMA, despite their significant contributions to the university system.
The decision to grant the VMA review exclusively to the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) while excluding members of SSA-UoG, FUSSAG, and TEWU-TUC has been labeled as a blatant violation of principles of fairness and natural justice in the administration of common allowances.

In a statement issued by the unions, they emphasized the importance of equitable treatment and fair compensation for all university staff members, regardless of their affiliation.
They argued that their exclusion from the VMA review undermines their contributions to the university system and erodes their confidence in the fairness of the remuneration system.
The unions have called on the relevant authorities to rectify the situation promptly by extending the VMA review to all university staff members, including members of SSA-UoG, FUSSAG, and TEWU-TUC.
Failure to address their concerns satisfactorily, they warned, would result in the commencement of an indefinite strike action.
