Six people were injured, three critically, when a taxi struck a bicyclist, jumped a curb, and plowed into a group of pedestrians in Midtown Manhattan Monday, June 20, 2022 and we’re learning more about the victims.
One of the women pinned by the cab had to have her leg amputated, and another victim may suffer the same fate.
According to the police, the taxi driver, aged 60 was trying to turn left on Broadway around 1 p.m. when he collided with a bicyclist moving southbound near 28th and 29th streets.
The impact threw the bicyclist to the road, and the taxi dragged him briefly before it hopped the curb and started traveling down the sidewalk.
The police further indicated that the three women in its path were hit while two victims ended up pinned under the taxi, which eventually came to rest further down Broadway.
Two women, aged 32 and 48 respectively, were taken to a hospital in critical condition with serious injuries to their legs and as of Tuesday [June 21, 2022], their conditions remained critical.
