Terri Carrington is an award-winning American jazz musician, composer, producer, advocate, and practising speech pathologist.

Terri Lyne Carrington was born on August 4, 1965, in Medford, Massachusetts, the United States of America. Not much is known about her parents, however, her mother was a pianist whiles her father was a saxophonist and president of the Boston Jazz Society.
It is not known whether Terri Carrington has siblings or not. She got her first set of drums when she was seven years old. The set had belonged to her grandfather, Matt Carrington.

As per her education, Terri Carrington received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music when she was only 11 years old. There she obtained an honorary doctorate in 2003. She also attended the University of Central Oklahoma.
Terri Carrington shot to the limelight following her marriage to renowned American stand-up comedian, actor, and country musician Rodney Carrington. The two are, however, divorced and share the custody of their three sons namely George, Zac, and Sam Carrington.
Terri Carrington became the first female musician to win a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album in 2013. She has won three Grammy Awards so far.
Terri Carrington is currently serving as the Founder and Artistic Director of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for The Recording Academy.
