Victor Osimhen, a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli has threatened to sue his own club Napoli.

He was the target of a bizarre video posted from the club’s own social media profile on Tuesday, September 26 2023.

The video focused on an incident during the club’s scoreless tie with Bologna on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in which Osimhen missed a penalty kick to win the game.

However, Napoli’s bizarre video concentrated on Osimhen begging for the penalty, using a strange and unnerving sped-up voice – which looked to have no context other than to humiliate the striker for his attempts to urge the decision to be awarded.

The video then abruptly ended with the striker sending his effort off target. The club has yet to acknowledge the footage, which was later removed.

His agent Roberto Calenda has suggested that Osimhen is considering legal action against his club. Which is an extremely unusual circumstance.

Roberto Calenda said on Tuesday evening : “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.”

The FIFA agent added: “A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.”

“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
