On August 15, 2021, a  woman who was identified as Rachel Hawes was 44 years old was involved in an accident on the Top Thrill Dragster. She was standing in line for the Top Thrill Dragster when a “proximity flag plate” bracket broke off and struck her in the head.

Why did Top Thrill Dragster get shut down?

The Top Thrill Dragster got shut down because it caused a severe injury in August of 2021 when a metal plate detached from the coaster and struck a Michigan woman in the head.
