Swedish-born Victor Erik Olof Hedman plays defense for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League as an alternate captain.

What happened to Victor Hedman?
Hedman had not missed a game since the final two contests of the 2020–21 campaign due to a torn meniscus in his knee.

Hedman started playing junior ice hockey for the Modo Hockey organization in the Swedish J20 SuperElit. During his first full season in the league in 2006–2007, he scored 25 points in 34 games. At the age of 16, Hedman began his professional career and joined Modo in the Elitserien.
The Lightning picked Hedman with the second overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Hedman, who is regarded as one of the top defensemen in the NHL, has advanced to the James Norris Memorial Trophy final five times before winning it in 2018. With the Lightning, Hedman won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021. He also took home the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP in 2020.
