Tabor went to Washington, D.C.’s Friendship Collegiate Academy. Rivals.com classified Tabor as a five-star recruit. He initially committed to play collegiate football for the University of Arizona, but he then switched his pledge to the University of Florida.

When Teez Tabor sustained a leg injury early in training camp, he was playing some of his best football of his career. While the injury led to his release from the team that drafted him, the former Detroit Lions cornerback believes it was a blessing in disguise.

“Oh, that was God’s plan,” Tabor, now a member of the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, said at Super Bowl 54 media night Monday. “I was playing good ball. Nothing I could do about that. God put me in a better place. He put me in a situation that hopefully, it’s better for me.”

After two dismal seasons with the Lions, Tabor, a second-round selection out of Florida in 2017, enters 2019 training camp on the outside looking in. He was injured for nearly four weeks and was waived a few days after returning.

Tabor was added to the 49ers’ practice squad in late September and spent the season there.
