His father, Akkineni Nagarjuna, is a major figure in the industry, renowned both as an actor and producer. His mother, Lakshmi Daggubati, hails from another prominent film lineage, with her brother being the veteran actor Venkatesh Daggubati.
Despite his parents’ early divorce and subsequent remarriages, Chaitanya was deeply influenced by this film heritage.
He began his acting career in 2009 with the movie Josh, which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South.
Chaitanya gained significant recognition with the 2010 romantic drama Ye Maaya Chesave.

His career continued to flourish with successful films like 100% Love (2011), Tadakha (2013), Manam (2014), Premam (2016), Rarandoi Veduka Chudham (2017), Majili (2019), Venky Mama (2019), Love Story (2021), and Bangarraju (2022).
For his performance in Manam, he received the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor, and he has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu three times.
In 2022, Chaitanya made his Hindi film debut in the comedy drama Laal Singh Chaddha.
