Matthew Thomas Fitzpatrick is an English professional golfer.

Fitzpatrick won the 2013 U.S. Amateur at age 18.

Following his win, he went to Northwestern University, where he played part of one season under coach Pat Goss before deciding to focus full-time on amateur golf.

Fitzpatrick made his professional debut at 2014 Irish Open, after which he played several competitions on the European Tour and Challenge Tour on sponsor and tournament invitations.

He turned pro after the 2014 U.S. Open and won the 2015 British Masters.

Fitzpatrick won two more titles the following year, including the year-end DP World Tour Championship to break into the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

He won the Omega European Masters in both 2017 and 2018, becoming the first player to defend the title since the legendary Seve Ballesteros, and further broke Nick Faldo’s record to become the youngest Englishman ever to win five times on the European Tour.

In December 2020, Fitzpatrick won his second DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, beating eventual Race to Dubai champion, and reach a career-high ranking of No. 16.

In September 2021, Fitzpatrick played on the European team in the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin but lost. However, he bounced back in his next start to win the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters at famed Valderrama with a bogey-free final round.

Matthew Fitzpatrick earned his first major victory at the 2022 U.S. Open, held in Brookline, Mass.

Fitzpatrick finished at 6-under 274. He became the first Englishman since Justin Rose in 2013 to win the U.S. Open, and the youngest player from England to win a major since Tony Jacklin at the 1970 U.S. Open.

This also makes him the 13th man to win both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open in his career, and only the second to win both on the same course.
