On August 8, 2024, during the first event of the CrossFit Games, which included a run-swim challenge, Đukić was competing in Marine Creek Lake.

After completing a 3.5-mile run, he entered the water for an 800-meter swim. Witnesses reported that he began to struggle about 100 meters from the finish line, and he subsequently disappeared beneath the surface. Despite immediate rescue efforts by the Fort Worth Fire Department, his body was recovered later that morning.

The event was live-streamed, and the abrupt end to the broadcast raised concerns among viewers. CrossFit officials confirmed the incident, expressing their heartbreak.

The remainder of the day’s events were postponed as the community mourned the loss of a dedicated athlete.
