Gerald Dempsey “Buster” Posey III was born on March 27, 1987, in Leesburg, Georgia, the United States to his parents Gerald Dempsey Posey II and Traci Posey. He was raised alongside his siblings Samantha Posey, Jack Posey, and Jess Posey.
Buster Posey attended Lee County High School where he pitched and graduated with a 3.94-grade point average. Following his senior season, he was named the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year, the Louisville Slugger State Player of the Year, an EA Sports All-American, as well as a Baseball America All-American.
Buster Posey played college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles as a shortstop and was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He was selected by the Giants with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2008 MLB draft. He also won the Golden Spikes Award and the Brooks Wallace Award in 2008.

Buster Posey was named the 2012 NL Most Valuable Player and made history as the second San Francisco Giant to win the batting title. He is the second player in Major League history to win the Rookie of the Year, a League MVP, and three World Series championships.

Buster Posey made his MLB debut on September 11, 2009. He had his entire twelve-year Major League Baseball career with the San Francisco Giants, retiring at the end of the 2021 season. He won a Gold Glove Award in 2016.
Buster Posey is married to Kristen Posey. He is the father of four children including Lee Dempsey Posey, Livvi Posey, Addison Lynn Posey, and Ada Posey.
