Mark Harmon has left the show after 18 years as Gibbs, beginning in 2003 when the character was initially introduced.
Mark Harmon’s character, Gibbs, has been at the center of the drama on NCIS for two decades, and he is one of the show’s remaining original characters. The actor that plays him was rumored to be stepping down from the job, or at the very least appearing less regularly, before Season 19’s premiere.
Mark Harmon voyage came to a conclusion on 12 October 2021 Monday night’s episode, after a clash with his nemesis Paul Lemere played by Jason Wiles.
Although it appears that Gibbs has departed the program for good, it has been confirmed that the character will remain in the NCIS universe.
Harmon is likely to return as a guest star in future seasons of the show because he is so important to the show’s success.
While Harmon’s character may not be completely gone from the show, he will be taking a long hiatus after Gibbs said his goodbyes to the squad at the close of Monday’s episode.
Although the actor has not made an official declaration about his character’s future, CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl has stated that this may not be the last time viewers see him.
