Media Personality, Toke Makinwa, has revealed some of the tough prices singer, Wizkid, paid to get to where he is today.
In a recent chat with journalist, Chude Jideonwo, while querying the youth of nowadays who just want to succeed without putting in the work, she used the music superstar as an example to preach hard work.
She said, young newbies try music for a year or two and then become frustrated because it is not working. She then shared Wizkid’s story revealing that, he put in the work over the years to become who he is today.
“When I tell people…I was at Rhythm and Wizkid used to carry speakers and he will be sent by DJs to buy Amala and he will do it” she shared. She said he was the “studio rat” begging DJs to just play his song.
She added that today, people just look at him and judge him for being “arrogant,” and they dont even know “the work he had put into this journey.”
Toke also used her own success as a yardstick of hard work saying that it is the same way people can look at her now and think she got it all easy.
“But if you have been following my career and seeing the hard work I put in, you should ask me what I am doing with my life if by now I am not enjoying all that I am enjoying now from my hard work” she stated.
