Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has candidly opened up about the reasons behind her decision to leave her marriage, stating in a recent interview that she now believes she should have married for money instead of love.

In a revealing clip from her interview on “The Honest Bunch Podcast,” Jegede discussed her marriage to ex-husband Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, shedding light on how their relationship dynamics shifted after tying the knot.

She recounted how her ex-husband began to take issue with her manner of speaking and highlighted the age difference between them, which had never been a point of contention before their marriage.

“He is eight years older than me. But the moment we got married, if I tell him, ‘You dey crase,’ he would say I’m disrespecting him. I would then be like, ‘It’s the same me, same thing I’ve been saying for over 10 years,’” Jegede explained.

Furthermore, Jegede disclosed that financial strain played a significant role in the dissolution of their marriage. She revealed that she was the primary breadwinner, a responsibility that became overwhelming.

“Let me just state the fact, I was bringing more of the money. Now I’m taking care of my son like nobody exists around me and it’s not easy, it’s not funny. I should have gone for money instead of love. Let me be very honest,” she admitted.

Jegede’s revelations have sparked widespread reactions on social media, igniting conversations about financial responsibilities within marriages and the complexities of choosing between love and financial stability.
