Who is Staff Sgt. Buck Aldridge? Meet the Georgia cop who shot dead Leonard Cure

Buck Aldridge is a former Georgia sheriff’s deputy who fatally shot Leonard Allan Cure during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 on October 17, 2023. Aldridge had been fired in 2017 for excessive use of force during a traffic stop.

Leonard Allan Cure was a man who was wrongfully convicted for a robbery he did not commit and spent over 16 years in prison. He was exonerated in 2020 and released from prison.

However, on October 17, 2023, he was fatally shot by a Georgia sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop on Interstate 95. Authorities in Georgia have released dash and bodycam footage showing the final moments of Leonard Cure shortly before he was shot.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is conducting an independent investigation of the incident. Mary Cure, Leonard Cure’s mother, is calling for justice for her son and spoke during a news conference about the death of her son. May he rest in peace.
