Mackenzie Dern’s father is Wellington “Megaton” Dias. Dias is a highly decorated grappling competitor and is known for his judo training and proclivity for launching his opponents far into the air, like a nuclear bomb detonation.

Wellington “Megaton” Dias was born on February 19, 1969, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  He began his training under the legendary Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, a highly respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) master.

Wellington “Megaton” Dias received his black belt in BJJ in 1996 and went on to secure numerous championships, including the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the Pan American Championship.

Wellington Dias’ became a respected instructor and coach. He established his own BJJ academy, Megaton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in Phoenix, Arizona. Mackenzie Dern’s mother is Luciana Tavares. She is also a black belt in BJJ and has competed in various tournaments.

Mackenzie Dern was born on March 24, 1993, in Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America. Mackenzie Dern is a former world No. 1 ranked IBJJF competitor and is currently ranked 6th among the female divisions.
