About Peter Seidler

Peter Seidler was an American businessman and former chairman of the San Diego Padres of the MLB.

In 2012, Seidler, alongside his uncle Peter and Ron Fowler, formed the O’Malley Group, a pivotal move that led to the acquisition of MLB’s San Diego Padres from John Moores.

In 2020, the MLB approved the transfer of the chairman role from Ron Fowler to Peter Seidler.

The investment yielded results as the Padres reached the 2022 National League Championship Series.

The financial commitment continued in the 2023 MLB season, with the Padres boasting a payroll of $237 million, the third-highest in the league.

Beyond the realm of sports, Seidler was a seasoned entrepreneur. In 1992, he founded Seidler Equity Partners, a private equity firm based in Marina del Rey, California, where he served as the managing partner.

The firm’s growth was evident, with assets under management reaching an estimated $1.8 billion in 2020 and surging to $3.5 billion in 2023.

Tragically, Peter Seidler’s journey came to an end on November 14, 2023, when he passed away in San Diego at the age of 63.
